Ryba po grecku ( German  fish in the Greek way ) is a traditional Polish fish dish. In most cases, it is served warm or cold on Christmas Eve .

It's fried fish or fish fillets in a sauce made from steamed grated carrots, onions and celery, seasoned with tomato paste, bay leaves and allspice.

Neither the origin of the dish nor the origin of the name is known. The dish is not known in this form in Greece. The linguist Jolanta Tambor states that the naming of dishes in the Polish language is connected solely to the idea of ​​what foreign kitchens are like. Examples of this can also be found in dishes such as Śledzie po cygańsku (gypsy herring), Śledzie po żydowsku (Jewish herring), barszcz ukraiński (Ukrainian borscht) or Śledź po japońsku (Japanese herring). The only known dish in Greece that has a slight visual similarity is Psari Plaki. However, the main components with baked fish, olives (oil), tomatoes and peppers are very different from the Polish dish.
