S&P CNX Nifty

The Standard & Poor's CRISIL NSE Index 5, also known as S & P CNX Nifty , Nifty 50 or simply Nifty called, is the leading equity index for the largest companies in the stock market in India .

The Nifty contains 50 companies from 21 economic sectors in India. It is used for a variety of purposes, such as benchmarking funds , index-based derivatives and index funds .

As of December 31, 2009, the values ​​of the Nifty represented around 63% of the free float market capitalization . The S&P CNX Nifty is professionally managed.

The Nifty is owned and operated by India Index Services and Products Ltd. (IISL), which is a joint project of the NSE and CRISIL. IISL is also India's first company to specialize in an index as its main product. IISL also has a marketing and licensing agreement with Standard & Poor's, which is what gives the index its name.
