South Humbrian evaporation

Under the südhumbrischen Verdumpfung means a Verdumpfung the Old English ā to ɔ: -According to the 12th century in the areas of England which the river south Humber are located. North of the Humber, this vowel sound initially remained unchanged. In this case, the Humber River is an isogloss . The term "southern Humber evaporation" is rather unusual in English itself. One speaks here simply of rounding or occasionally southern rounding .

This results in new forms of some Old English words in southern Humbrian, such as B.
