Water polo

The SC Rote Erde Hamm played in the Bundesliga until 2006 and until the boom and the dominance of Wasserfreunde Spandau 04 were one of the dominant clubs in German water polo from the 1950s to the 1970s and repeatedly hosted the final tournaments of German championships . The 15 national championship and (from 1972) cup titles also fall during this period. Rote Erde Hamm was German champion in 1954, 1955, 1956, 1959, 1960, 1964, 1966, 1969, 1971, 1973 and 1975. In addition, there were the German cup victories of 1974, 1975, 1976 and 1977. Rote Erde is still today the most successful German water polo club after Spandau 04.

For many years the club played in the Jahn outdoor pool, which was covered by an air dome in winter . The association is based today in the Maximare bathing center in Hamm, which opened in 2003 . From 2010, the club's water polo players formed a syndicate with SV Brambauer , who was also briefly represented in the Bundesliga, under the name “ SGW Rote Erde / SV Brambauer ”. In the middle of 2017, however, this was separated again, so that the SC Rote Erde Hamm, as a department in TuS 1859 Hamm, has been playing its games independently since then.

swim

In addition to water polo, SC Rote Erde also offered swimming, artificial swimming and aqua fitness. A new orientation of the swimmers at that time led to the split-off of the Maxi Swim-Team Hamm in 2006, which constituted itself as an association in January 2006 and has since been able to celebrate some successes. Nevertheless, SC Rote Erde Hamm continued to operate its own swimming department.
