SDS-1 (Small Demonstration Satellite) is a Japanese satellite . It was launched on January 23, 2009 at 3:54 a.m. UTC together with GOSAT on an H-IIA rocket from the Tanegashima spaceport .
mission
SDS-1 was developed as a test satellite to check and optimize technologies and processes for satellite development and satellite construction.
Instruments
The following instruments and experiments were built into SDS-1:
instrument | function |
---|---|
Space Wire Demonstration Module | Test of a new microprocessor . |
Multi-mode integrated transponder | Test of four different communication protocols for future satellites (USB, QPSK, CDMA, SSA) |
Advanced Microprocessor In-orbit Experiment Equipment | Test of a new computer board and its components. |
Milestones
On January 27, 2009, the Japanese space agency JAXA announced that the "critical phase" was over, that is, the satellite had reached its final orbit, the solar collectors had been extended and communication had been successfully established.
