The SFAI 1048-1049 (later SFAI 1401-1402) were two shunting locomotives of the Strade Ferrate dell'Alta Italia (SFAI).

history

The two small, double-coupled locomotives with upright boilers were delivered to SFAI by Cockerill in 1872. They were initially given the numbers 1048 and 1049, later 1401 and 1402.

In 1885 they came to Rete Mediterranea (RM), which gave them the company numbers 5001 and 5002. The RM also assigned names to their locomotives, namely those of waters. Since the two shunting locomotives were at the top of the list, they were given names of the most important bodies of water, namely OCEANO and PACIFICO . Other far more important locomotives, however, had to be satisfied with smaller bodies of water.

The Italian State Railways (FS) classified them as 0051 and 0052 in their 005 series.
