history

The SHC Bettlach was founded on January 21, 1993. Already after its first season in the National League B, the club was promoted to the NLA, albeit at the green table. However, the class could not hold the SHCB and so the immediate relegation followed. The following year they positioned themselves in the midfield of the NLB, but made people sit up and take notice when they moved into the Swiss Cup final. After the 1997/1998 season they were promoted to the top division for the second time, but as before, the second attempt was followed by immediate relegation. In the following eight seasons Bettlach established itself as one of the stronger teams in National League B, but the desired promotion back to National League A was no longer successful. It was not until the end of the 2005/2006 season that Bettlach won the league qualification as NLB runner-up against the Red Bears Cham and then rose to the National League A for the third time. In contrast to the two previous promotions, however, it was possible to keep the class and to establish itself in the middle of the NLA in the following years. After sporting difficulties, he voluntarily relegated to the NLB after the 2018/2019 season.

In addition to the 1st team, the SHC Bettlach also operates a 2nd team (2nd league), three junior teams as well as a senior and a women's team.
