Anton Schnedl

Anton "Toni" Schnedl (born July 17, 1942 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian boxer.

Boxing career

Schnedl won the bronze medal in the light middleweight division at the 16th European Championships in Berlin in 1965 . He had prevailed in the round of 16 against Vasile Dobre from Romania and in the quarterfinals against Ferenc Szabó from Hungary, before he was eliminated in the semifinals against Angel Doitschew from Bulgaria. In 1966 he was Austrian light middleweight champion.

In 1967 he switched to the professional field and boxed in Austria, Germany, Italy, Denmark, France and Great Britain. He defeated boxers with positive match statistics such as Renato Romano (13-2), Frank Reiche (6-0), Victor Stijila (14-5) and Hans Schwartz (30-9) and became Austrian middleweight champion in March 1971.

He suffered his first defeat in May 1968 on points against Cemal Kamacı and in 1969 lost twice on points against Mario Casati . In December 1972 he suffered a knockout loss to Alan Minter . He also lost prematurely against Eckhard Dagge in April 1973. He ended his professional career in September 1973 with a record of 16 wins, 11 losses and 4 draws.
