Mario Casati (born September 3, 1944 in Carate Brianza ) is a former Italian boxer.

Career

He was Italian light middleweight champion in 1964, Italian runner-up in light middleweight in 1965, and Italian middleweight champion in 1966 and 1967.

At the European Championships in Berlin in 1965 he was only defeated in the semi-finals of the light middleweight division against Viktor Ageev from the Soviet Union and won bronze. At the European Championships in Rome in 1967 , however, he was able to secure the gold medal in the middleweight division after defeating Alexei Kisseljow from the Soviet Union in the final. He also won the military world championships in Munich in the light middleweight division in 1965 and the middleweight division in the Mediterranean Games in Tunis .

In 1968 he took part in the Summer Olympics in Mexico City , but lost there in the first fight against Simon Georgiev from Bulgaria. From January 1969 to July 1970 he boxed as a professional and remained undefeated in seven fights. He twice defeated Anton Schnedl and boxed against the future European champion Elio Calcabrini in a draw.
