History and construction

The Coccinelle was designed by Yves Gardan for SIPA as a simply constructed all-metal training aircraft for the French aeroclubs. It was a two - seater low- wing aircraft with a fixed nose wheel landing gear and seats arranged side by side. Standard automotive parts were also used to keep production costs down. The prototype first flew on June 11, 1955. Series production was planned for 1956, but apart from the prototype, only two other machines were built.
