The SIPA S.200 Minijet was the world's first light, jet-powered sport aircraft from the French manufacturer Société industrial pour l'aéronautique .

history

The development of the SIPA S.200 was started by Yves Gardan in February 1951. The maiden flight of the first of two prototypes took place on January 14, 1952. The second prototype was given the option of attaching wing tip tanks in order to increase the range.

A pre-series production of five mini-jets took place in 1955/56. However, plans for further development of the model were dropped.

construction

The aircraft was a shoulder-wing wing and had double tail booms with vertical stabilizers. The cabin was housed in a central fuselage gondola and had two seats arranged side by side.

The SIPA S.200 was designed for aerobatics and was powered by a Turbomeca Palas jet engine with 1.5 kN thrust.
