SKYbrary is a wiki founded by EUROCONTROL , the ICAO and the Flight Safety Foundation with the aim of creating a generally understandable and freely accessible source on aviation safety . The Skybrary was founded in May 2008 based on MediaWiki software. The Flight Safety Foundation describes the goals of Skbrary as follows:

"Capturing authoritative aviation industry information and create cumulative knowledge, especially with regard to critical safety issues"

"To collect binding information from the aviation industry and to build up a concentrated knowledge, especially about critical security issues."

- Flight Safety Foundation

"HindSight Magazine" and EUROCONTROL received the Cecil A. Brownlow Publication Award for SKYbrary at the "FSF International Air Safety Seminar" (IASS) 2009.

SKYbrary's structure

The SKYbrary homepage introduces the visitor to the content via three large portals. This portal structure, which is similar to Wikipedia, then refers to several sub-topics. At the moment these main categories are: Operational Issues, Enhancing Safety, Safety Regulations and Miscellaneous.
