The Altheim Sports Club was created through a merger of three Altheim football clubs in 1948.

From 1968 the club belonged to the Upper Austrian regional league , making it the longest football club in the regional league . The greatest success was winning the national championship title in 1973. Furthermore, the two Austrian national players Franz Viehböck and Reinhold Hintermaier began their careers at SK Altheim.

The Achstadion Altheim has a capacity of around 2,500 spectators, with the roofed main grandstand being equipped with 500 seats. To the left and right of the main grandstand there are benches for around 200 visitors on the opposite grandstand for around 300 visitors, which means around 1,000 seats. The record number of spectators was 3,000 and was reached in the 1970s in the ÖFB Cup game between SK Altheim and Wacker Innsbruck .

In addition, the Achstadion houses 5 cabins, a sports center, a canteen, an office, as well as the club home of the ESV Altheim including its asphalt tracks (stick shooting) at the rear . The square also has an automatic irrigation system.
