SMI-S

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The SMI-S ( Storage Management Initiative - Specification ) is generally considered to be the standard basis for future management environments in storage area networks . Heterogeneous storage infrastructures, in which mass storage solutions from different providers are used, should be easier to manage thanks to the common, open compatibility standard .

Version 1.0.2 of the specification has now been submitted to the International Committee for Information Technology Standards ( INCITS ) in a fast-track process . In 2008, version 1.1 was standardized by ANSI as ANSI INCITS 388-2008 .

The originator is the industry association SNIA (Storage Networking Industry Association).
