SPF Resource Record

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

With an SPF resource record , a sender policy (see Sender Policy Framework ) could be defined for a DNS name. However, this type of resource record was revoked in April 2014 because sender policies had meanwhile found widespread use within TXT records and the responsible standardization committee did not expect a dedicated resource record to become established. TXT is therefore the only standard-compliant RR type for SPF.

The dedicated SPF record type is supported by some SPF implementations and by BIND from version 9.4.
