The SRH Klinikum Waltershausen-Friedrichroda is a hospital with a regional supply mandate based in Friedrichroda , Thuringia .

Together with the medical facilities in the immediate vicinity of the clinic, such as the MVZ Friedrichroda, it forms a small health center with its six specialist departments.

history

The SRH Klinikum Waltershausen-Friedrichroda was opened in 1887 as a " sanatorium ". This remained so until 1932, when the sanatorium was converted into a tuberculosis clinic. Seven years later, in 1939, the clinic was opened as the "Walter Ortlepp Hospital" on Geizenberg. The tuberculosis clinic served as a hospital for wounded soldiers from 1939 until 1945 and was converted into a silicosis sanatorium from 1945. In 1949 the “Walter Ortlepp Hospital” specialized again. The silicosis sanatorium became a general medicine hospital in 1963, and the first obstetric department opened two years later.

In 1966 the surgical clinic moved to Waltershausen . This led to an expansion of the gynecological and obstetrical department in Friedrichroda , which was followed by a children's clinic in 1975. In 2005 the Medical Care Center (MVZ) was founded in Friedrichroda. Two years later, the specialist department for orthopedics / trauma surgery and the start-up of a left heart catheter laboratory followed. In 2008 the medical care center was founded in Waltershausen, which is also subject to the SRH Klinikum Waltershausen-Friedrichroda.

In 2014 the Rhön-Klinikum AG sold the Friedrichrodaer hospital to the health concern SRH. The transaction was completed on October 13, 2014 and the clinic was integrated into the SRH Kliniken Group, which is part of the SRH Kliniken, which means that the name of the clinic was changed to "SRH Klinikum Waltershausen-Friedrichroda".
