The SV Langenau 08 (officially: Sportverein Langenau 08 eV ) was a sports club from the Kreuztal district of Langenau in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district , which was founded in 1908. The first soccer team took part in the DFB Cup once.

history

SV Langenau 08 was founded on May 10, 1908 under the name FC Concordia Langenau and played in the lower leagues for many decades. In 1988 the team was promoted to the then fourth-class Association League Westphalia . A year later, the Langenau team qualified for the first and only time for the DFB Cup and lost 6-0 to the Stuttgarter Kickers in the first round . In the 1992/93 season, the club reached its sporting zenith with fourth place , but missed promotion to the Oberliga Westfalen a year later , for which fourth place would have been enough.

Finally, the Langenauer rose again in 1996 to the state league and fell in the following years to the lowest division, the district league C. In 2008, the club was about to be excluded from gaming after it was unable to pay association taxes of 3,774.37 euros on time. He was then expelled from the FLVW.

Since then, the club has only been active in table tennis under the name Sportverein Langenau 2008 . A table tennis department was founded in SV Langenau as early as 1968, and an athletics department was also owned from 1919 to 1926.
