from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The SY-400 (SY stands for Shen Ying , 神鹰, "Divine Eagle") is a long-range multiple rocket launcher system from the People's Republic of China . It serves to combat land targets and is primarily intended for export.

The SY-400 is a short-range precision attack missile introduced in China in 2008 as an export-oriented alternative to the Russian Iskander-E . The SY-400 is a further development of the SY-300 , which can carry either two short-range missiles of the type BP-12A with a range of 400 km or eight 300 mm missiles. The flexible configuration of the system includes the installation of a BP-12A launch canister and a quad launcher for the 300mm missiles. The missiles used have solid rocket engines . They are equipped with a number of warheads and are launched vertically from their containers, which have to be erected. The missile system is based on an all-terrain 8 × 8 truck of the type WS2400 .

The DF-12A short-range ballistic missiles are a downgraded export version of the DF-12 missile used by the Chinese military. The missile, which can be exported according to the MTCR , carries a 480 kg warhead and reaches a distance of up to 280 km.

The emirate of Qatar and Myanmar bought the system in 2017.
