Saʿd ibn Muʿādh

Saʿd ibn Muʿādh ( Arabic سعد بن معاذ, DMG Saʿd b. Muʿāḏ ) was a leader of Yathrib , the pre-Islamic Medina Arab tribe of the Banu Aus . In contrast to Saʿd ibn ʿUbāda ibn Dulaim , the leader of the Chazradsch , he was initially hostile to Mohammed , but later accepted Islam. From this point on he was one of the most important helpers of Muhammad and took part in all of the major battles of Muhammad. Among other things, he became known for his order to have the men of the Jewish tribe of the Banu Quraiza killed and their wives and children into slavery after the battle of the trenchesfor sale. He died shortly afterwards of his injury sustained in the trench battle.
