Saarland pigeon

origin
In the 1930s, Mathias Holler bred the Coburg Lark pigeon breed mainly for economic reasons . Since hunters often mistook his free-flying animals with wild pigeons, he started breeding a color distinguishable pigeons race . From carrier pigeons and the breeds Bagdette, Coburg Lark and Roman he bred a new breed that was mainly used economically. In 1960 the Saarland pigeon was shown for the first time as a Saarland lark at a Saarbrücken exhibition .

The Saarland pigeon is a strong shape pigeon with a wingspan of 85 to 90 cm and a weight between 750 and 950 g.
