Factual data

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In connection with spatial information systems , such as geographic or land information systems , factual data , in contrast to geodata ( geospatial base or geospatial data ), are attached data without any geometric reference.

Factual data can be numeric or alphanumeric descriptions of facts. They are also called attributes or thematic data and are assigned to spatial geodata.

In general, factual data is a supplement to geodata, via which the contents of a spatial information system are spatially referenced.

example

Information about the type of road surface (asphalt, concrete, gravel) is factual data. This information does not have a geometric component and is only obtained through the assignment to geodata, such as B. to a street proven by its spatial location, a spatial reference.
