Certificate of competence for dog sport tests

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The proof of competence for dog sports tests is part of the test at the clubs of the Association of the German Kennel Club (VDH) and is a prerequisite for participation as a dog handler at the aligned through the dressing dogs sporting events . The examining performance judge selects a total of 30 questions from 5 categories (see below) from a catalog of questions and has them answered in writing by the dog handler on prepared questionnaires. The certificate of competence (SKN) is personal, the dog handler only has to provide this certificate of competence once. He doesn't have to put it down again with another dog. The SKN is provided in connection with a companion dog test at VDH events that are protected against deadlines and assessed by a performance judge. The SKN can also be taken at such events by future dog handlers who do not take part in the companion dog test.

  • Part A covers general knowledge about the dog and its behavior
  • Part B contains more specific questions about dogs, including dog diseases and dog ownership
  • Part C deals with legal provisions, partly federal, partly laws of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, on dog ownership
  • Part D includes questions about the VDH and the dog's senses.
  • Part E is devoted to specific questions about dog sports, such as what minimum age a dog must be for an exam.

There is a separate questionnaire for young people (up to 18 years of age). It is the responsibility of the performance judge to choose the questions from the catalog in such a way that they are applicable to the specific examination situation. For example, the catalog contains country-specific questions that must be selected accordingly. The judge will also take into account current developments that are not yet included in the catalog in his assessment.

The regulations of the VDH have been revised in the FCI Utility Dog Commission and have been part of the FCI guidelines since January 2012. In addition, since then there is no longer any distinction between the certificate of competence as a theoretical part of the VDH / FCI dog driving license and that of the FCI companion dog test.

Differentiation from other certificates of competence

In addition to the certificate of competence for dog sport tests, further certificates of competence are available within the VDH. For example, all dog sport trainers and performance judges have to provide specific proof of competence, which is a prerequisite for their work.

The VDH certificate of competence for dog sport tests differs from other certificates of competence for dogs . The VDH, however, recognizes an officially determined expertise and means that the evidence for dog sport tests of the association does not have to be provided separately.
