Bagpipe (Switzerland)

In Switzerland , the bagpipe was a popular folk musical instrument from the Middle Ages until around 1700. In German-speaking Switzerland they are called "sackpfiff", "sackpfyf", "sagkphiffen", "sackphiffen" and others. In French-speaking Switzerland the terms "cornamusa", "cornamuse" (pastoral) and "musette" can be found. In Italian-speaking Switzerland (Ticino) the names "zampogna" (pastoral), "piva", "musetto" and "corna musa" are known. In Romansh-speaking Switzerland, only the word "tudelsac" is known.
