Saddha

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Saddhā ( Pali , Sk. Śrāddha) means "faith" or "trust" in German and is one of the five skills or powers (bala) in Buddhism . Trust and wisdom are equally important on the path to liberation. The Buddhist faith is thus differentiated from "blind faith". First and foremost, trust relates to the threefold refuge (Buddha, Dharma and Sangha).

The “trusting heart” plays a central role in the Jōdo-shū . Through a devotional mind, one strives for the pure land during the Buddha-mindset , from where - according to the adepts - it is easier to attain liberation.
