Lists on the subject

The Saiga-12 is a Russian self-loading shotgun.

technology

Turret lock

The Saiga-12 is a gas pressure charger with a long gas piston and rotating head lock , it is based on the mechanism of the Kalashnikov weapon system. The breech was adapted to the much more voluminous shotgun ammunition. In addition, a pressure regulator was installed in order to be able to adapt the weapon to different types of ammunition. Cartridges with shotgun projectiles generate higher pressure than shotgun ammunition . This must be taken into account in order to ensure that the loading mechanism functions reliably. The trigger weight is around 1.5-3.7 kg.

variants

The Saiga was designed as an inexpensive hunting rifle for the Russian domestic market and export. There are civil stocks as well as magazines of different capacities available. There are versions with shoulder rests and mounting rails for the police and military.
