Saksanochour is the modern name of an ancient settlement near Farchor in the south of today's Tajikistan .

The site was examined by Soviet archaeologists from 1966 to 1967 and 1973 to 1977 before the remains were leveled. Remains of a Greek-Bactrian and later settlement were found. Along with Ai Khanoum , it is one of the few excavated sites of the Greco-Bactrian Empire.

A citadel was found, the center of which was a building with a large courtyard to which a portico was attached. The wooden pillars once had Corinthian capitals. The construction probably dates to the second century BC. Its concept is comparable to other buildings in Ai Khanoum, where there are also buildings with a large courtyard and an adjoining portico.

In the settlement next to the fortress, there were residential buildings and workshops, including ceramic kilns. Different layers could be distinguished. The lowest dates back to the Greco-Bactrian times and it can be assumed that the place was founded during this time. The upper layers belong to a Kushana settlement .
