Salviuskerk
Salviuskerk or St. Salviuskerk is the name of two St. Salvius consecrated churches in the municipality of Sittard-Geleen belonging Dutch town Limbricht .
Oude Salviuskerk
The history of the Oude Salviuskerk (in German: Old Salvius Church), located directly next to Kasteel Limbricht on the outskirts, dates back to around the year 1000. Parts of the oldest building are still preserved in the north wall of today's church. The late Romanesque choir was built in the 13th century. In the 15th century a Gothic aisle was added to the originally hall church, i.e. single-nave church, on the south side, and the tower was finally built around 1458. After a renovation in the 1950s, the church was repaired again between 1977 and 1984. This exposed paintings from around 1300, which are considered to be the oldest wall paintings in a Dutch village church.
Salviuskerk
In 1922, a considerably larger new church, also consecrated to St. Salvius, was built in the town center, which replaces the old church in its function as a place of worship. This church was designed by Jos Cuypers with the collaboration of his son Pierre Cuypers (junior) .
