Velvet collar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The velvet collar is an alcoholic drink that is particularly widespread in the Lower Rhine and the Ruhr area . It is a mixture of three parts of Kornbrand and one part of Boonekamp (a bitter bitters) and is served in schnapps glasses (called " Pinneken "). When pouring, the Boonekamp is poured onto the grain with the help of a thread pourer so that a clear dividing line is created between the grain and the Boonekamp. It should now be served quickly, as the dividing line becomes blurred as the temperature increases. The velvet collar is drunk in one gulp so that both ingredients mix in the mouth.
