The youth novel Samurai: Der Weg des Kämfers (Original title: Young samurai: the way of the warrior ) was written in 2008 by the English writer Chris Bradford . It is the prelude to a series of novels about the young samurai Jack Fletcher.

action

The book is about the 12-year-old Jack Fletcher and his father John Fletcher, who set off for Japan in 1610 with a crew of 100 to find the infamous island. When they got caught in a strong storm shortly before Japan, the ship saved itself in a bay off Japan. They are attacked by Japanese ninja pirates and the entire crew is killed except for Jack, including Jack's father. Jack is found and adopted by the Japanese Masamoto and lives with his family in the city of Toba. It turns out that the ninja who killed Jack's father is the dreaded Dougukan Ryu (Dragon Eye). One night, Jack attacks his new family again because of the portolan . This portolan belonged to Jack's father and is written in a mixture of English and a secret code, so that it cannot be read easily. At the last second, Jack is saved by Masamoto. He goes with his friends Yamato and Akiko to the School of the Two Heavens (Niten-Ichi-Ryū) to be trained as a samurai. There he finds an enemy, Kazuki, who blames him or all foreigners for the death of his mother because she was infected by a Catholic priest.
