Chris Bradford (born June 23, 1974 in Aylesbury , England ) is an English author, musician and martial artist . He was best known for his youth book series Samurai and Bodyguard .

life and career

The first samurai book to emerge from Bradford's passion for Japanese culture was published by Puffin Books in 2008 under the title Young Samurai: The Way of the Warrior . Disney bought the rights that same year. The German edition was published by Ravensburger Buchverlag under the name Samurai: Der Weg des Kämpfers . The series now comprises eight German and 9 English books.

Chris Bradford has also authored several books on music: Heart & Soul: Revealing the Craft of Songwriting (2005), Crash Course Songwriting (2007) and the three-part series for teenagers, Record Deals Outloud , Music Publishing OutLoud and Artist Management OutLoud (2006). In 2013 the first book in a new series of books for young people was published: Bodyguard: Hostage . The series continued with Bodyguard: Ransomware (2014). A third volume, The Ambush , was published on December 14, 2016. The volume Im Fadenkreuz was published on August 8, 2016 . The attack appeared on September 2, 2017, making it the fifth part of the book series. On November 25, 2017, the new part Bodyguard The Decision was released in Munich . Prior to his writing career, Bradford wrote songs and worked with musicians such as Dave Calhogoun (Ian Brown 'FEAR'), the Iain Archer and Graham Gouldman , among others . As a musician he appeared with James Blunt , at the Notting Hill Carnival and before Queen Elizabeth II .

Chris Bradford joined a judo club at the age of seven and has over 20 years experience in the martial arts of various styles, including Shōtōkan karate , muay thai (Thai boxing), aikido and taijutsu , each of which is now black belted . Now he trains Iaido and Wadō-Ryū karate .

Bradford lives with his wife Caroline and two sons George and Kyle in the [South] Downs in southern England.
