Papilla duodeni minor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The papilla duodeni minor ("small duodenal wart") is a small elevation of the mucous membrane in the descending part ( pars descendens ) of the duodenum , on which the additional duct of the pancreas ( ductus pancreaticus accessorius ) opens.

A papilla duodeni minor is only present if the excretory duct of the dorsal (backward) part of the anlage of the pancreas is preserved (→ development of the pancreas ). In humans, this is only the case with a pancreas divisum , while dogs and horses always have an additional pancreatic duct.
