The San Diego Riptide were an arena football team from San Diego ( California that) in the af2 played. The Riptide played their home games at the San Diego Sports Arena .
history
The Riptide were founded in 2001 and played in af2 from 2002 . The franchises were a rather unsuccessful franchise. So they reached the playoffs only once in four seasons. Audience numbers also fell from year to year. In their last year 2005, they were almost fifty percent below the value of the debut season 2002. In their first home game on April 6, 2002, 9,747 spectators watched the defeat against the Bakersfield Blitz , which is a franchise record.
There was no official dissolution of the Riptide. Since the 2006 season, the franchise has no longer participated in a game operation. The official homepage has also been deleted.
