Sandro Boldrini

Sandro Boldrini (born June 10, 1944 in Sassoferrato ) is an Italian classical philologist .

Life

Sandro Boldrini studied Classical Philology at the University of Urbino , where he received his doctorate on November 25, 1968 . After graduating, he worked for a short time as a middle school teacher and returned to Urbino University as an assistant in 1970. From 1982 to 1992 he was professor of Latin language history at the Faculty of Education, since 1990 as professore ordinario . In 1992 Boldrini moved to the Faculty of Philosophy as a professor of Latin language and literature.

Sandro Boldrini deals with various aspects of Latin literature and language. His research interests span Roman comedy, ancient fables, the history of transmission and reception of ancient literature in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, book studies and research on humanism. His main research focus is the Latin metric , on which he wrote a systematic monograph: La prosodia e la metrica dei Romani (1992). The work was translated into German in 1999 and has been widely discussed. Even if it has experienced a lot of contradiction in detail, it is widespread and respected in the Italian and German-speaking countries.
