Saint Brendan's Islands
The Saint Brendan Islands are phantom islands that are said to be west of northern Africa . They are named after the Irish monk Saint Brendan , who undertook a legendary sea voyage ( Navigatio Sancti Brendani ) in the 6th century and supposedly discovered these islands. For centuries, these islands were repeatedly shown on maps and their existence was considered a fact by scholars of the Middle Ages .
