The Saint Thaddeus and Bartholomew Cathedral ( Armenian Սուրբ Թադեւոս-Բարդուղիմեոս Մայր Տաճար , Azerbaijani Surp Tadevos-Barduğimeos Erməni Kilsəsi , Russian Церковь Святого Фаддея и Варфоломея ), also known as Budakowski Cathedral , was an Armenian Apostolic Church in the Azerbaijani capital Baku , which was built in 1910 and inaugurated in 1911 in what was then the Russian Empire . It was located on Bondarnaya Dmitrowa Street (today Shamsi Badalbejli Street).
Construction began on August 2, 1907 and was completed in 1910. The cathedral's architect was Howhannes Kachasnuni , who later became the first prime minister of the Democratic Republic of Armenia .
As part of a systematic policy of the destruction of religious buildings, the cathedral was destroyed in 1930 under the rule of the Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin and replaced by the building of the Baku Music Academy .
