Sampei Shirato

Sampei Shirato ( Japanese 白 土 三 平 , Shirato Sampei , actually: Noboru Okamoto ( 岡本 登 , Okamoto Noboru ); * February 15, 1932 in Tokyo Prefecture ) is a Japanese mangaka .

Shirato started drawing when she was 25. From 1959 to 1962 his first significant manga Ninja Bugeichō appeared , which he drew in a historical-realistic style. Thematically and graphically, the series was aimed at an adult audience and is thus one of the first Gekiga . In 1964 he began the series Kamui Den , which was divided into several narrative cycles. The dramatic experiences of the young ninja Kamui take place in Japan during the Edo period . Two volumes of this were published in 1995 in German by Carlsen Verlag .
