Sarah Oppenheimer (* 1972 in Austin ) is an American artist .

life and work

Oppenheimer holds a bachelor's degree in semiotics from Brown University (1995) and a master's degree in fine arts from Yale University in painting (1999).

By changing individual architectural elements, Oppenheimer's site-specific works aim to manipulate the perception of the environment. With the help of light and mirrors, she confuses the viewer, steers the gaze in new directions and changes the feeling of gravity. This enables the viewer to recognize complex mental and physical processes that influence the understanding and experience of the living space. It plays with space and time: Instead of a linear conception, it offers the visitor a transformed experience, whereby space and time have a direct influence on the situations it creates - the viewer becomes a direct participant.

Oppenheimer lives in New York, she is represented by Bartha, Basel and Annely Juda -Fine Art, London.
