Sarras (Arthurian legend)

The mysterious island of Sarras is associated with the legends of the Holy Grail with the Arthurian saga and the later stories about Lancelot with Joseph of Arimathea (often Germanized to Arimathea ).

Legend has it that Joseph of Arimathea stopped on this island with the Holy Grail on his way to England. The Grail Knights of the Round Table later brought the Grail that Galahad had found back to Sarras.

According to the Lancelot story, the island is said to be near Egypt .
