Satan's Disciples

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Satan's Disciples , also Satan Disciples (abbreviation: SD ) is an American street gang that is mainly active in Chicago , but also has individual sections in other cities. In total, the gang is said to be active in 22 US states.

history

The Satan's Disciples were founded in the 1960s and initially existed as a small gang of Spanish-born Americans in Pilsen . By 1971 it had grown to about 60 men and gave itself a kind of constitution. Around 1978 they joined the Folk Nation , an alliance of numerous gangs from Chicago. The background to this were disputes with the Latin Kings gang , which consisted mainly of Latin American immigrants.

In the 1980s, the gang spread its territory under the leadership of Aggipito "King Aggie" Villalobos in the southwest to Gage Park and Brighton Park . The gang also became active in the suburbs of Bridgeport and Cicero . In 1983 Villalobos was sentenced to several years' imprisonment after an armed robbery. Rumor has it that he led the gang out of prison through his right-hand man, Danny "Gizmo" Valentino. When he was released from prison in 1995, however, a dispute broke out between the two leaders of the group, which eventually resulted in the assassination of Valentino. Villalobos was suspected of murder along with six other accused. In the end, three defendants, including Villalobos, were brought to justice. Only one of the perpetrators was sentenced to 30 years in prison, the other defendant and Villalobos were acquitted for lack of evidence after an eyewitness changed his testimony in court.

organization

The Satan's Disciples consist primarily of members of Spanish origin. Her symbols are the letters "SD", devil horns and a trident . A devil figure is used as an emblem, which used to be in the comic style, but can now also be drawn as a rather gloomy figure. The inspiration was the cartoon character Hot Stuff the Little Devil . As part of the Folk Nations, the Star of David is another popular tattoo motif. The gait colors are yellow and black.

The Satan's Disciples are one of the few gangs in the United States whose chapters have shared bank accounts. Although legal businesses are cited in their “constitution” as a legitimate source of financial income, the vast majority of them come from the sale of so-called “soft” drugs, especially marijuana and club drugs.

Until the mid-1990s, the gang was ruled by a simple hierarchy, headed by a “King” and his deputy the “Prince”. These passed the orders on to the individual gang bosses. After the assassination of Valentino, the gang abolished this hierarchy and now operates through an assembly. The gang is also networked via the Internet and there via various communication channels.
