Folk nation

The Folk Nation (also known as Folk or Folks ) is an alliance of various American street gangs who originally come from the greater Chicago area . The organization later expanded into the United States, specifically the Midwest and the Southern States . Your opponents have formed a people nation .

composition

The Folk Nation consists of different gangs, each with their own colors, symbols and organization. Many of these gangs have signed charter to join the alliance. The largest single gang within the alliance are the Gangster Disciples .

founding

The Folk Nation was formed on November 11, 1978 within the boundaries of the Illinois Department of Corrections . The chairman of the Gangster Disciples, Larry Hoover , originally came up with the idea for this alliance and many big gangs from Chicago - white, black and Hispanic - quickly joined him. A short time later, the People Nation was brought into being by the opponents of the Allies.

Symbols

Gang members demonstrate their affiliation by using certain symbols, sequences of numbers and letters as well as wearing certain colors and graffiti . The Gangster Disciples use 74 as the code for GD , derived from the fourth and seventh letters of the alphabet.

Hand signals and certain phrases are also used as identification marks. In gangs, how clothes are worn also plays a role, for example which half of the body is used to wear hats or bandanas . Most of the Folk Nation gangs chose the right side of their body. Other identifying marks are the six-pointed star - identical in style to the Star of David - and pitchforks .

The members of the Folk Nation greet each other with the slogan "All is One", "All are one".
