Satavastres

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Satavastres was an Indo-Parthian king who ruled around AD 65.

Satavastres is known only from a small number of coins. It is a silver drachma bearing the king with a tiara on one side and a Nike and an inscription in Kharoshti on the other . His coins were minted in Sindh , which obviously corresponds to his realm. However, they were all found in Taxila . Its coins were overminted by the Western Sacred Ruler (Kshatrapa) Nahapana and Satavastres overminted his coins. Both rulers ruled roughly at the same time, although the dating of Nahapana is uncertain.
