history

BfG

In 1978, the investment company for securities was founded under the name BfG Invest as a subsidiary of the Bank für Gemeinwirtschaft . The BfG, which previously sold ADIG funds, will become the most important sales channel for the new BfG funds. When AachenMünchener joined BfG in, the companies of the Aachen-Munich group, in particular DVAG, were added as additional sales channels .

With “Luxinvest Securarent” (today “SEB Luxinvest ÖkoRent”), the Luxembourg subsidiary of BfG Invest launched the first German eco-fund in 1989 .

In 1988, BfG Immobilien-Investment GmbH was founded for the purpose of setting up special property assets. In 1989 this launched the open-ended real estate fund BfG ImmoInvest (today: SEB ImmoInvest). This SEB Invest flagship manages € 7 billion and has a market share of 6.5% in Germany, which significantly exceeds SEB Invest's total market share of approx. 1%. The fund had to be closed twice as part of the crisis in open real estate funds in Germany. On May 7, 2012, it was decided to wind up the fund.

1997 SEB Invest becomes a pioneer in setting up a guarantee fund family .

SEB

With the purchase of the BfG Group by SEB, both capital investment companies change their names. The SEB Asset Management AG , based in Frankfurt am Main was now the real estate and securities investment house of the Swedish SEB Group in Germany .

The subsidiary is part of the “Wealth Management” division with around 1,000 employees and managed assets of around 132 billion euros as of December 31, 2011.

Since June 2008, SEB Asset Management AG holds its real estate and securities business in an investment company (KAG), SEB Investment GmbH, together. This emerged from the two previous KAGs SEB Immobilien-Investment GmbH and SEB Invest GmbH.

According to statistics from the BVI Federal Association of Investment and Asset Management eV (BVI) , as of the end of December 2011 the SEB Group was managing 67 securities and 3 open-ended real estate mutual funds . In addition to these retail funds for private investors, the company also manages 25 special securities funds and 4 special open property funds for institutional large investors.

In 2005, SEB Asset Management AG was founded, a 100% subsidiary of SEB AG Germany, into which SEB Immobilien-Investment GmbH and SEB Invest GmbH were incorporated as subsidiaries in 2006. In 2008 SEB Investment GmbH, KAG of SEB Asset Management AG, was created through the merger of SEB Immobilien-Investment GmbH and SEB Invest GmbH.

In May 2012, SEB Asset Management had to close the open-ended real estate fund "SEB ImmoInvest". It is still in the process of being dissolved. The fund volume was around 6 billion euros when it closed. In 2015, SEB sold its subsidiary SEB Asset Management AG, including its major stake SEB Investment GmbH, to Savills plc.
