The Schönbuchtunnel is the tunnel of the federal highway 81 which was put into operation in 1978 to pass under the "Alten Rain", a western branch of the Schönbuch . The tunnel lies on the markings of Herrenberg and Nufringen and is 626 meters long. The two-year tunnel renovation began in April 2014 and was completed at the end of May 2016.
