Schöne Leben is a small party from North Rhine-Westphalia . The party emerged in the summer of 2016 from the group “Schöner Links”, which had previously split off from the left, in the city council of Essen .
The central program items include a sanction-free basic social security that effectively protects against poverty, a free education system, the strengthening of the regional economy and environmental protection. Furthermore, Schöner Leben advocates more popular initiatives, youth parliaments and lowering the voting age. The party belongs to the progressive spectrum. Schöne Leben competed in the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2017 with party chairman and top candidate Janina Herff-Stammen and received 5,164 second votes (0.1%).
