Schösser (profession)
In the late Middle Ages and early modern times, the task of the lock or office lock was to drive in the lock (tax). His job was also to keep the lap register.
Officials and bailiffs were often held in personal union in smaller offices .
In Johann Sebastian Bach's peasant cantata , Picander's text on the Schösser is as recitative and aria for bass:
The Lord is good: Alone the Schösser,
That is a sulfur man,
Who can punish a new shock like lightning,
If you hardly stick your finger in the cold water.
Oh, Mr. Schösser, it's not going to be too bad
with us poor farmers!
Just protect our skin;
If you eat the herb
like the caterpillars to the bare stalk, you
just have enough!
