Draft beer

Draft beer is a classification for beer in Germany and Austria .

In Germany, beers with 7% to less than 11% original wort are classified as draft beers for tax purposes . This results in a relatively low alcohol content of 2.8 to 4.4 percent by volume in the finished beer during fermentation .

The Austrian Food Book classifies beers with 9% to under 11% as draft beers. The beer tax results from the original wort content of 2 € per hectolitre and degree Plato original wort content.
