The Beer Ordinance (BierV) is a German legal regulation for the food beer .

The Beer Ordinance was issued on the basis of Section 12 Paragraph 1 No. 1 and Paragraph 3, Section 16 Paragraph 1 Clause 2 and Section 19 No. 1 and 4 Letters a and b of the Food and Consumer Goods Act.

The designation beer is protected according to § 1 and the identification of the types of beer is regulated in § 3 depending on their original wort content .
