Swing test

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The rocking test provides information about the temperature-dependent consistency of ointments . It is suitable for assessing the storability in climatic areas with pronounced, constant temperature changes. To do this, the ointment sample in a closed container is repeated and constantly exposed to different temperatures. For example, the ointment is stored alternately at 40 ° C for 12 or 24 hours and then at −5 ° C for the same period of time. The time is then determined during which no impairment, such as impairment of the consistency and homogeneity , occurred. The rocking test enables the beginning or complete splitting of emulsions to be reliably detected at an early stage.
