The Berlin Schaustelle was an event that took place in Berlin from 1995 to 2005 and attracted visitors to Berlin's construction sites to promote understanding for the many construction work in the city.

history

After German reunification in 1990, Berlin quickly developed into one of the largest construction sites in Europe. Construction work on a new high-rise estate quickly began, especially on Potsdamer Platz . At that time, a three-storey red container, called an “Infobox”, was set up in the immediate vicinity to inform visitors about the construction work. The success was huge, the info box was always well attended.

The city marketing company "Partner for Berlin" developed from this in 1995 an event lasting several weeks for all of Berlin. During this time, interested parties were allowed to look around many building sites in Berlin.

Every year around 100,000 visitors visited the construction sites of the exhibition site. The duration of the show was slowly reduced. While the exhibition ran for many weeks in 1995, the 2005 exhibition was limited to 10 days.

The last show took place in 2005. There were only three major construction sites left to visit. Last year 140,000 visitors came.
