Shearing machine (machine tool)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A shearing machine is a machine for the cold, chipless cutting of flat, round, square and angle profiles made of structural steel and non-ferrous metals .

The shearing machine is mainly used in steel construction. It consists of the machine frame with a vertical plate, against which another plate is slidably attached. In both plates there are several openings in the shape of the profiles to be cut. The openings are also provided with cutting plates made of tool steel . In many cases, these devices are also equipped with punching devices for punching the profiles and / or the function of continuous sheet metal shears . They can also be equipped with functions for notching. The drive takes the form of an eccentric press either via electric motors or hydraulically.

Hand-operated lever sheet metal shears also often have the function of a shearing machine, but only for angle profiles up to 50 mm leg length and max. 3 mm wall thickness, as well as for round, square and reinforcing steel profile wires up to approx. 12 mm (1/2 ") diameter.
